Many critics were pleased by the ... morecouple's realistic relationship, with pregnancy concerns, a custody battle and Dr. Weaver's deeply religious bio-mom. While the later "ER" seasons tended to get mired in soap opera, Dr. Weaver always had an interesting problem to chew on, and her orientation was only one of her many plot points. Interestingly, both Laura Innes (who played Weaver) and Lisa Vidal (Sandy Lopez) are married to men in real life.
