A toast to television's most popular drinkers

As St. Patrick's Day is fast approaching, let's take a look at some of
the most well-known winos in television history. Hell, "It's Always Sunny in
Philadelphia" might even do one of those "very special ... more episodes" in honor of
St. Patrick's Day, down the road. Remember them? (Editor's Note: "Family Ties" was famous
for these, and even did one wherein Tom Hanks guest-starred as, yep, an
alcoholic relative, the episode's titular Uncle Ned.)
No character in TV history hunkered down more than Otis from "The Andy Griffith
Show." In today's Hollywood, Andy would be viewed as an enabler and letters
would pour in to inquire if there was an AA meeting anywhere near the filling
station, and, if so, why on earth no one was forcing Otis to go, where, of
course, Aunt Bea would no doubt be dropping off her meat loaf. But that was
a long time ago, and the town drunk as character is now frowned upon -- unless
you're animated or Charlie Sheen.
Furthermore, reality TV has provided audiences with plenty of
drunk-like-a-skunk footage, more often than not, doubling as a PSA -- 'cuz
it's rarely purty. So, let's start there, huh?
