No. 10 (Best): "Nashville"
With its blend of love triangles, family drama, diva dips and country music,
"Nashville" reigns as 2012's breakout prime-time drama. Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere shine as dueling divas Rayna and
Juliette, while Charles Esten's Deacon is definitely a man worth
fighting over. The tension between Avery, Scarlett and Gunnar (Jonathan Jackson,
Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio) gets just as juicy, but this dish-y soap opera goes
way beyond love triangles, catfights and villains. Set against the music and
politics of Nashville, it delves into the pitfalls and trapping of success, the
darkness behind bright lights and the inescapable power of family, secrets and
the past. With T Bone Burnett serving as executive music producer, the cast also
churns out tracks that cross over to the mainstream and keep people talking --
or should we say humming? We don't like to toot our own horn, but we told you
this was one to watch. (Deanna Barnert)
