It wouldn't be the year-end without our annual list of the best and worst shows. As in years past, we rounded up a crowd of MSN TV writers and editors and asked them to rank and share their picks for 2012. It wasn't totally -- OK, or even nearly -- unanimous. In fact, there were more than 50 different best choices that we had to narrow down to get what you see here.

You'll probably recognize many of these shows, since five of the 10 best made the list last year. Three others made our best list for the first time ever (two of them in their inaugural seasons to boot). Surprisingly, premium-channel juggernaut "Boardwalk Empire" and other usual buzzer "Breaking Bad" fell off the best list this year in favor of network shows. Who would've guessed! And the four worst? Well, the responses from our writers and editors weren't as varied. Let's just say we weren't surprised in the least.
