| Best & Worst TV of 2008 |
| No doubt about it, it wasn't a banner year for television thanks to the
pesky writers strike that stunted the networks' development cycle. As such, not
a single new show made our best list this year (we can't say the same for our
worst list, as all were new in 2008). Thankfully, a handful of returning series
kept the TV flame blazing by keeping their quality high. Two of television's
best-ever cop shows, "The Wire" and "The Shield," made our list in
their final seasons, while a handful of shows that appeared on our list last
year appear here again. Read on to see our selections for the best and worst of
