Yo! MSN TV Raps - By Paul Semel

In his new reality show, "Rap School," mic master Ice-T teaches a group of not-so-underprivileged youths how to play the rap game. But if Ice really wants to make a difference in the lives of kids, maybe he should teach some of his fellow rappers how to play the TV game instead. Although Ice hasn't lost any of his flava hosting this show, or doing "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," not all rappers have been as adept in going from the streets to the soundstage. Below is our look at the rapper/actors who actually deserve both halves of that title, and the ones who should've never dropped the rhyming.

Michael Benabib/Retna Ltd.

The Rapper: Will "Fresh Prince" Smith

The Show:
"The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"

Yo, What's the Dilly-O?
After almost getting his butt kicked by
local toughs, Will was shipped off by his mom to live with her rich
brother in Bel-Air, Calif.

Did It Have the Skills to Pay the Bills?
Sort of, because
although this fish-out-of-water sitcom went downhill toward the end, it was still pretty funny in its early days.

G. Binuya/Retna Ltd.

The Rapper: Snoop Dogg

The Show: "Doggy Fizzle Televizzle"

Yo, What's the Dilly-O? Sketch comedy with hip-hop flava, "Fizzle" had Snoop and pals cracking wise like a pimp -- well, a pimp of comedy, that is.

Did It Have the Skills to Pay the Bills? Fo' shizzle, because it was like Dave Chappelle's show before Dave went AWOL.

The Rapper: Eve

The Show: "Eve"

Yo, What's the Dilly-O? Despite sharing her name with the show, rapper Eve actually played Shelly Williams, one of three women running a boutique and clothing line.

Did It Have the Skills to Pay the Bills? No, we've heard rap parodies by "Weird Al" Yankovic that were funnier and had more street cred.

Ernie Paniccioli/Retna Ltd.

The Rapper: Grandmaster Flash

The Show:
"The Chris Rock Show"

Yo, What's the Dilly-O?
As the music director and house DJ for Chris Rock's comedic talk show, Flash got to drop mad science ... in between sketches and interviews.

Did It Have the Skills to Pay the Bills? Yes, because Rock's smart show was a cross between "Chappelle's Show" and "Real Time With Bill Maher."

Walter McBride/Retna Ltd. USA

The Rapper: Grandmaster B (aka Bud Bundy)

The Show: "Married ... With Children"

Yo, What's the Dilly-O? When he realized that women are attracted to power, money and rhyming, Bud created a rapper alter ego named Grandmaster B.

Did It Have the Skills to Pay the Bills? No, because his family could never get his name right and instead called him variations such as Grand Marshall B, Ghostbuster B, Bed Wetter B, Burgermeister B, Dustbuster B and Grasshopper B.

The Rapper: Fredro Starr

The Show: "Moesha"

Yo, What's the Dilly-O? For a couple of episodes, Starr appeared on Brandy's sitcom as her main squeeze.

Did It Have the Skills to Pay the Bills? No, because dating Brandy, even fictionally, is more pop than hip-hop.

The Rapper: Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones

The Show: "Blade"

Yo, What's the Dilly-O? As the titular self-loathing half-vampire, "Sticky" tries to stick it,
literally, to his blood-sucking brethren in this TV version of the Wesley Snipes action franchise.

Did It Have the Skills to Pay the Bills? No, 'cuz Sticky ain't no Wesley.
