Long one of cyberspace's most popular stars, Tila Tequila now offers fans a peek into her private thoughts with her new book, "Hooking Up With Tila Tequila," which hits bookstores Tuesday, Dec. 2. The book offers Tila's uncensored views on love, celebrity and success. In the book, the star of "A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila" reveals how she harnessed the Web to become one of pop culture's hottest sex symbols and shares with fans never-before-seen photographs from her private collection. MSN TV sat down with Tila Tequila to talk about "Hooking Up," reality TV and her budding music career.
MSN TV: Your entire history of climbing up the ladder in Hollywood comes from your success in the digital space. Your celebrity really started on the Internet, so what made you decide to do a printed book?
Tila Tequila: After all these years, there are so many fan questions, and I always have given little spurts of advice, but I always sensed that everyone wanted more. I can't just write a blog on it, because it would be the size of a book. [Check out tilashotspot.com for Tila's blog.] So I decided, "Why don't I put it all together?" That way they can keep it as memorabilia and go back to it whenever they need help and hopefully inspire them.

What did you learn about yourself during the writing process?
I learned that I actually am much softer inside than people perceive me to be. I'm tough, and my life story is tough, but I actually have a really big heart. Writing the book, I really had to open up and dig deep. Some parts really brought me back and made me cry, but I think that just being honest and open for everyone is great.
What was your writing process like?
It was insane. We had such a short turnaround time. I had just got done with my TV show, and then they wanted the book to come out quickly. It was a miracle that I finished it. Initially, I wrote out the first few chapters and then started working with Sarah Tomlinson, who would interview me for three hours every single day. We'd go through hundreds of questions and things I wanted to talk about. Now when I read it, it's everything I talked about verbatim.
What you include in the book is extremely timely. After the book was finished, were there things you wish you had included?
There is so much stuff. I'm a perfectionist, and this is my first book, so I wanted it to be so good. But at the same time, I only had a certain amount of time to finish it. There are some things that I had so much experience with that I wanted to get in. And even from then to now, I've learned a lot more. Overall, I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's really about connecting with my fans.

You get pretty personal in the book, but you don't ever name names. Was it difficult to keep those things to yourself?
I think it keeps a bit more of the mystery of things, and I love mystery. Even more than that, though, I will have a second book coming out more about my life. In that one, I will be more direct and specific.
The book seems a bit more geared toward your female fans. What do you hope your male fans get out of it?
I think that a lot of people have this misconception that I have all these guy fans. Actually, I don't. I have a lot of young female fans and gay male fans. I know my target demographic fan base, and I know there are a lot of young women out there who look up to me.
