Picket Fences offered quirky, entertaining folks and their daily battles with LAW, Medicine, ETHICS, Religion, CRIME, and all the "usual" problems of life.
Seriously, I used episodes as a teching tool in both high school and college courses for more than 10 years. The series was thought-provoking, argument-making, and sometimes, heart-rending.
Its irreverant humor was meaningful and did not cross into mean-spiritedness or offensiveness --in short, of a caliber that this generation of TV (and its execs) can't seem to find today or understand.
