This show stands out from several other 'shows of the genre. 'Medium' is not simply trying to cash-in on a wide-spread fascination with the Occult. It tries to humanize the whole world of psychics and mediums. As a psychic myself, I am very grateful for the attempt to portray Allison's character as a normal person. Her gift is shown as a blessing for those she is able to help, and yet also a curse for her AND her family, because of the torment it causes. She did not 'ask' to be born this way, and yet she recognizes the good that can come of it. 'Allison' remains humble and curious about her gift, about life, and her main objective is to live her life as a good, honest person, who loves her husband and 3 children. She is not seeking any kind of reknown, wants to protect her family and loved ones. The show's producers have allowed the Dubois' to interrelate in a normal way, and they weave several interesting ''every-day-stuff'' sub-plots into the story.For example, the 3 girls, each so distinct, continue to evolve in the series, through stories about their own struggles: i.e.: adapting socially at school, on outings, with sibblings etc., and also with their own emerging 'gifts'. 'Joe's character adds a whole other dimension and the believabilty of 'Joe and Allison' as a loving couple is captivating. Above all Patricia Arquette, Jake Weber, David Cubitt, Sofia Vasilieva, et al...are intelligent actors all and so very well cast! Thank you Thank you, for this great show !! (p.s...I guess the only thing I'd like to see, is for 'Allison and Joe'' to get a good night's sleep sometime.) Was this review helpful? Leno is Ok now but he will quickly lose his novelty in that 10PM slot.)
I do wish that the last two stories that aired on 10/9 and 10/2 would have had a real finish. On 10/9 we were all left hanging about what happened to that crazy doctor who killed Allisons friend with cancer and almost killed the doctor who was the medical director. I dont like being left hanging on how things ended.
Still love MEDIUM and wanted to know when if Allisons boss going to get his bottom front tooth fixed...? Was this review helpful? It is a show that I look forward to every week and I DVR the whole season. I now have withdrawal symptoms in between seasons and hungrily await it's return. A show that's centered around family life; albeit an unusual family dynamic, is of value to so many viewers starving for a break from some of the garbage offered. Please don't cancel "Medium." The writers have done an excellent job of making the Allison character believable and sincere. Other shows should take note of the family dynamic. Nice to see TV parents struggle to keep schedules, disagree, have financial concerns and be respectful to one another. Hope they don’t cancel it. Was this review helpful?
