In the 50's, I would stop at my Grandmothers on the way home from school. She would be watching Guiding Light then later in the 50's she expanded her TV time with As The World Turns. Fond memories of coming in and if I was a little late and missed the show, she would fill me in with updates. Then when I became a homemaker in the 60's, I watched both these soaps whenever possible. For years I didn't have to work on Mondays... I was glued to the television for these two soaps. In the 70's, my son would come home from school on Mondays and ask me how the Bower boys were doing? He didn't really care, but he knew I really enjoyed Guiding Light and there was always something going on. In the 80's, I was really thankful for the VCR so I could tape my 2 favorite shows. One day my husband was walking through the room and caught a glimpse...it was one of the Roger and Holly storylines. Until that particular saga ended, he would ask me what Roger was up to. I am 64 and I don't watch a lot of TV and now I'll watch less. I will miss Guiding Light and my friends from Springfield, who made me laugh and cry. Good luck to all of them. Was this review helpful? I am 82 years old and still watch it. I think the whole reason it lost its popularity is because it stayed a clean show with not alot of making love and all that went on in it. The young generation likes shows with all that and we older people like shows that are clean and family style. I am not the only one that feels that way, all my friends like shows that stay clean like we were used to. Thank you for keeping it that way for so long. Was this review helpful? I have come to think of them as family and will miss tuning into them five days a week. Great actors and story line. Was this review helpful? I currently do not have access to local channels, therefore I have to rely on the internet to watch the latest episode. I love this show and I just feel that it needs to be aired earlier than 3am. Some times I've had to wait until then and there has been times when it's been even longer! Why can't it air at the same time as if it were on TV? Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-4 of 4 Per Page |
