Wild Card, Revisited
While all eyes will be understandably focused on Simon as he makes his return to the
reality TV airwaves, so too will Paula Abdul command considerable
attention from those who grew accustomed to her unpredictable ways on "American Idol." As
you'll recall, ... morein the final years of her stint on that show, she was known more
for her loopy, sometimes incoherent ramblings and her incessant flirtations with
Simon, than for her hackneyed warm fuzzies from the judges' table. While she
always remained popular with fans and contestants, she certainly towed the line
of becoming a caricature of herself. Well, fast forward two years, and you have
a recharged, refreshed Paula reunited with her partner in crime (yes, she'll sit
immediately next to Simon the judges' table). All indications suggest that Paula
is happier than ever to be back in the saddle with Simon again (her last TV
project, the hapless "Live to Dance," failed
to connect with viewers and fans) and is ready to remake some of their
former TV glory. But who knows? As the grind of a long season sets in, here's
hoping we see some random, though always completely harmless, Paula fireworks.
