Producers of the Atlanta series originally planned to follow the lives of
five black women. But after meeting Kim Zolciak, they decided to include the
divorced mother of two because they were impressed by her personality. Or
... moremaybe,
they were impressed with how ridiculous her life would appear on camera.
Supported by a mysterious sugar daddy referred to only as "Big Poppa," Kim tried
to keep up with the Joneses, but kept unwittingly showing her roots (both
literally and figuratively). When she wasn't mispronouncing the names of
champagnes in restaurants, misspelling the word "cat," drinking chardonnay while
driving about town in an open-top convertible, texting her boyfriend for a new
Escalade or more jewelry, she was constantly kissing fellow housewife Sheree's
butt or confessing that she didn't know what guacamole was. Oh, and then there
was that whole "I wanna be a country singer" fascination that had her actually
working with superstar producer Dallas Austin. That whole sideshow ended quickly
when it was discovered that she couldn't actually sing.
