It's definitely fair to suggest that not only was "How to Make It in America" overlooked for its scrappy, character-driven comedy, but that it was equally underappreciated for superlative music supervision. With Aloe Blacc's now-ubiquitous "I Need a ... moreDollar" as its theme and a vibrant selection of soulful rock cuts and rocking soul -- from Bobby Womack to the Joy Formidable -- between credits, "How to Make It" had a rhythm all its own, even when its protagonists got the blues.
