"Baywatch"
There simply cannot be anyone out there who thinks this series would
have been a hit based on the merits of its taut scripts, innovative direction
and Emmy-worthy acting of David Hasselhoff. Obviously NBC
didn't, where the show aired initially and where it was almost ... more instantaneously
canceled. Hey, maybe The Hoff blames that on co-star Parker Stevenson; after all, the
former "Hardy Boy" didn't return for the seemingly never-ending syndicated run
that gave the world Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth and Erika Eleniak. Nonetheless, the
locale was the thing -- both the beach and the syndicated dial. (OK, the red
suit's the thing, but truly the beach comes in a close second. OK, just
second).
