'Game of
Thrones' (2011)
It seemed like an impossible task, turning George R. R. Martin's series of
epic fantasy novels into a weekly television series, but show creators David
Benioff and D.B. Weiss took on the Herculean task and made it look easy. The
solution wasn't cheap, ... more but neither is HBO, which spent a rumored $50 million to
$60 million producing the show's first season, which was shot in a variety of
locations, from Malta and Croatia to Iceland. In an even rarer feat, especially
for a cult phenomenon like this one, the series managed to capture the
imagination of longtime fans and newbies alike.
