Wow, did we love to hate this guy. Dr. Romano was just about the most malicious, undercutting, pompous -- you name it, he was it. But the fascinating way that McCrane played him showed an edge of vulnerability and social insecurity, and his ... moreNapoleon complex made for a great bad guy against the life-affirming medical backdrop. He sure didn't have good luck with helicopters, but Dr. Romano was nothing if not memorably written off the show. Since his character's death by chopper in Season 10, McCrane has had guest-starring roles on FOX's "24" and ABC's "Ugly Betty," and he's directed episodes of CBS's "Eleventh Hour" and NBC's "Life."
