has become one of the most successful TV series since it debuted in 2002.
Paula Abdul: '80s pop sensation and
choreographer Paula Abdul served as one of the original "American Idol" ... morejudges
for eight seasons. Her singing credits include the multiplatinum album "Forever
Your Girl," which featured hit singles "Straight Up," "Cold Hearted"
and the title track. After "American Idol," Abdul served as a judge on
"The X
Factor" for one season.
Randy Jackson: Currently the sole
original judge on "American Idol," Randy Jackson has a long musical career as a
bass guitarist, singer and record producer. He was a session musician for
Journey, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen, among many others, and
worked with divas like Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston.
Steven Tyler: Joining "American Idol"
with Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler brings over 40 years of rock experience to the
show. As the frontman for Grammy-winning band Aerosmith, Tyler's distinctive
voice has spanned decades on tracks like "Livin' on the Edge," "Dude (Looks Like
a Lady)" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."
Jennifer Lopez: Whether you know her as
J.Lo or "Jenny from the Block," actor/singer/dancer Jennifer Lopez re-emerged on
television as one of "American Idol"'s newest judges. Formerly a Fly Girl on "In
Living Color," Lopez's singing career took off in 1999 with hits like "If You
Had My Love" and "Love Don't Cost a Thing."
