Most happy families don't call the police when they squabble, but Hayden Panettiere insists all is hunky-dory despite the Aug. 11 arrest of her father, Alan, on suspicion of striking her mom, Lesley Vogel, in the face during an argument at the family's Los Angeles home. "[It] was absolutely nothing. It was blown way out of proportion by a sheriff who wanted his 15 minutes of fame," the "Heroes"-starring, Milo Ventimiglia-dating actress, 19, downplays to "Extra" of her dad getting booked on a charge of felony domestic violence. "My family is wonderful. They are so very happy. We're all great." Panettiere's comments echo what her parents told "Extra" shortly after the incident, when they insisted "nothing actually happened" and declared that they "love each other very much and want everyone to know that the matter was completely blown out of proportion."
If we learned anything from that distraught, overindulged teenager's Lexus meltdown on MTV's "My Super Sweet 16," it's how important it is to get the right car to mark the milestone. For Miley Cyrus, who hits the big 1-6 on Nov. 23, that means being presented with a vehicle that's suitably roomy and imposing. "I definitely want to get something bad on the road," the "Hannah Montana" powerhouse informed Radio Disney last week (via People), explaining how her ride has to be "big enough for all my friends and to scare all the cars away from me. I'm a good driver, but it's everyone else that I'm worried about!" In addition to her car cravings, Miley, who will celebrate her special day a little early with an Oct. 5 bash at Disneyland (a limited number of tickets will be available to the public for $250 a pop), also wants a puppy and a Wii Fit. "This year one of my goals is not to stress, just kind of let life come as it is," adds the starlet. "I'm going to try and do that a little more. Just take things step by step instead of always having a plan."
So what if Heidi Montag didn't grace the world with her dead-eyed, talent-free presence until five years after Olivia Newton-John hit No. 1 with "Physical"? That hasn't stopped her from co-opting the concept by strapping on a Lycra leotard and legwarmers to feel the burn in the video for her latest squeaky-voiced single, "Overdosin'." In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, Spencer Pratt's slightly less soulless half said the repetitive-chorused, beyond-processed ditty is about "when you fall in love with someone... and [you're] just overdosing off of their love." In other dubious music news, Terrence Howard has already squicked us out with his baby wipe obsession (see, if he finds only toilet paper and no wipes in a woman's bathroom, he figures she's "unclean"). Now, he's fessing up to keeping too close an eye on his ex-wife Lori in the song "No. 1 Fan" off his debut album, "Shine Through It," which is set for release on Sept. 2. "I wrote that song as a stalker," the actor admits to the New York Times. "It was raining, and I was sitting there in front of the house, watching her come home from a date after we were divorced. I was imagining what she did on this date, and watching her giving him a kiss. I went home and wrote this song." Next: Couples News: Diaz, Justin & Jessica, McGosling & More |
