All those steamy on-camera smooch sessions apparently got the better of "Men in Trees" stars Anne Heche and James Tupper. "Entertainment Tonight" reports the
actress, 37, has ditched Coley Laffoon, her
moniker-challenged husband of five years (they have a 4-year-old son, Homer), in
favor of her small-screen amour.
Tupper, 41, reportedly called it quits with his novelist-playwright wife in
November, just two months after he enthused to TV Guide of Heche, "She's the
real deal. I think she's been through a lot in her life and it's made her into
this person who has a tremendous amount of love and energy every single day."
Back in December, Tupper admitted to the New York Post that he had some
reservations about working with the former tabloid staple, but quickly realized
his fears were unfounded.
"She's the best actress I've worked with and a great person," he gushed. "I
never got any of that [weirdness]. She's got two feet on the ground ... We
respect each other's work -- it's real actor love."
You'll recall that Heche began dating cameraman-turned-stay-at-home dad
Laffoon shortly after she ended her headline-grabbing three-year romance with Ellen DeGeneres in August 2000.
One day after their split, Anne was found wandering around
Fresno, Calif., looking for a spaceship to wing her to heaven. She
delved into that meltdown, along with her abusive childhood and
God-communicating alter ego Celestia, in her 2001 memoir, "Call Me Crazy."
Reps for Heche and Tupper, who remain hard at work on the hit ABC series in
Vancouver, Canada, are tight-lipped on the romance reports.
