The powers-that-be behind the wholesome juggernaut that is Miley Cyrus have learned an important lesson:
Never underestimate a tween's ability to spot shenanigans. Over the last few
days, disgruntled fans and conspiracy theorists have been dissecting video
footage that shows the Satan-wary "Hannah
Montana" starlet, 15, disappearing offstage while performing "We Got the
Party," only to be replaced for a short time by a dancing doppelganger (see the
video here -- jump to the 2:23 mark). Perhaps sensing an impending
disaster in which Cyrus' obvious stand-in is pelted with Stridex pads and
strawberry-flavored Bonne Bell lip balm hurled by irate, prepubescent ticket
holders, her rep decided to come clean on the duplicity. "To help speed the
transition from Hannah to Miley, there is a production element during the
performance of 'We Got the Party' incorporating a body double for Miley," the
mouthpiece explains to OK!. "After Hannah has completed the featured verse on
the duet with the Jonas Brothers, a body double appears approximately 1 to 2
minutes prior to the end of the song in order to allow Miley to remove the
Hannah wig and costume and transform into Miley for her solo set." The flack
then attempts to reassure her now-trust-issue-plagued fans: "Other than during
this very brief transitional moment in the show, Miley performs live during the
entirety of both the Hannah and Miley segments of the concert."
Zac secretly wonders how Jessica gets her
lashes so full and lush. |
In other squeaky-clean star news, are Zac Efron's fresh-faced pretty boy
looks getting a little artificial boost? Jessica Alba thinks so. In what we're guessing was
truthiness brought on by pregnancy hormones, the desperate-to-be-taken-seriously
actress snipes to Elle of meeting the Tiger Beat-designed "High School Musical" sensation, "He looks like a child with
a lot of makeup. I was like, 'My God, you're just a little kid.'" As for her own
career, which includes turns in a bikini for "Into the Blue" and a leather bra for "Sin City," she declares, "Contrary to how people may feel,
I've never used my sexuality. That's not part of it for me."
Speaking of bikinis and feelings, Jennifer Love Hewitt is both mortified and
empowered by her recent swimsuit kerfuffle. "It made me feel a little
embarrassed, to be honest," she forlornly tells "Extra."
"It made me a little sad. It hurt my feelings." What's more, she huffs to "Entertainment Tonight," "I was on the cover of People in a
bad bikini shot. I worked 20 years in this business and that's how I got the
cover of People." (We agree with J.Love -- she should have gotten the cover much
sooner, like when she suffered the tragedy of "Time of
Your Life" being canceled after only 13 episodes.) Still, the newly engaged
actress has found a silver lining in her self-proclaimed size 2 bikini bottoms.
"The support has been amazing, women have said all kinds of things," she says.
"It's been the ultimate female bonding experience."
"There's obviously an appetite for gossip. It is very addictive to see what
people are doing and wearing and saying -- and who is breaking up." That's Gwyneth Paltrow, blabbing to Britain's Daily Mail magazine
about the public's desire to know every detail about a celebrity's life. She
even offers up an anecdote about how a pal of hers who had just hooked up with
"someone very famous" was incensed to read an untrue item about himself in a New
York tabloid. "Then, he turned the page of the same newspaper and said, 'My God,
have you seen who's together?'" she recalls. "So we're all at it, aren't we?"
