'Girls' star Allison Williams to play Peter Pan for NBC live musical

By Jordan Zakarin

Allison Williams will take to the air as Peter Pan for NBC.

The "Girls" star, and daughter of NBC News anchor Brian Williams, has been cast as the iconic forever-boy hero in "Peter Pan Live!," the peacock's December 4th live telecast. Christopher Walken was previously announced as the production's Captain Hook.

"I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true," Williams said. "It's such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I'm very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"

Williams, a classically trained singer, has recorded songs for the "Girls" soundtrack. She has also appeared on sitcoms "The Mindy Project" and "The League."

NBC aired the Mary Martin-starring Broadway production of "Peter Pan" on live TV in 1955.
