By Liz Raftery

Actor James Rebhorn, who passed away at age 65 last week after a long battle with skin cancer, wrote his own obituary before he died. (Warning: don't read further unless you have a tissue handy.)

"Jim was fortunate enough to earn his living doing what he loved. He was a professional actor," Rebhorn wrote in the obituary, which was published on thewebsite of his New Jersey church. "He was a lucky man in every way."

Rebhorn also paid tribute to his parents ("They gave him his faith and wisely encouraged him to stay in touch with God"), his sister Janice ("She was his friend, his confidant, and, more often than either of them would like to admit, his bridge over troubled waters"), and his wife and two daughters ("They anchored his life and gave him the freedom to live it. Without them, always at the center of his being, his life would have been little more than a vapor").

Rebhorn was a character actor who appeared in more than 100 films and television shows throughout his career. He most recently appeared as Claire Danes' father on Homeland, as well as Special Agent Reese Hughes on White Collar.
