Veteran British actor Frank Thornton has died at age 92.
The star, best known for his role as Captain Peacock on the hit U.K. sitcom "Are You Being Served?" passed away in his sleep on Saturday, his agent David Daly confirms.
Daly tells the BBC, "I have been Frank's agent since 1986, and he has been the most wonderful client as well as being a great friend. He will be sorely missed." Thornton is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beryl, and his daughter, Jane, as well as three grandchildren.
In a career spanning more than 60 years, the actor racked up credits in TV shows including "Last of the Summer Wine," "Hancock's Half Hour," "Love Thy Neighbour" and "Steptoe and Son." He also appeared in movies including "Gosford Park," "Carry On Screaming!" and "Some Will, Some Won't."
