"The X Factor" judge Demi Lovato is hoping her new album will show critics why she's the perfect choice to sit with the experts on the show.
The 20-year-old joined "The X Factor" panel as the youngest judge last year, sitting alongside record exec L.A. Reid, pop diva Britney Spears and music mogul Simon Cowell for the second season of the singing competition. And now that her future on the show is up in the air, Lovato is focusing on her singing career once again, and gearing up for the release of her new single "Heart Attack."
In an interview with MTV News, she explains that she is eager to prove to critics who didn't believe she was competent enough to mentor young-adult hopefuls that she's more than capable by creating an album that will turn skeptics into fans.
"I definitely want to back up why I was a mentor on 'X Factor,' " she said. "I don't want to go on my album and kind of make people think, 'Well, what does she know about judging?' I definitely think I'm going to accomplish, hopefully, a positive response. I just always thought I need to give it my all because that's what my contestants were doing."
The third season of "The X Factor" returns this fall.
