Comedian-actor Brandon T. Jackson has won the lead role in the upcoming TV remake of Eddie Murphy's "Beverly Hills Cop" film series.

The 1984 comedy, which spawned two sequels, is heading to the small screen with Murphy reprising his role as police officer Axel Foley in an advisory role to his son, who is the new title character.
Jackson, who began his career as a stand-up comedian, takes the lead role as Murphy's on-screen son, according to Deadline.com. He has previously appeared in the movies "Tropic Thunder" and "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief."
