American Idol hopeful auditions onstage at Carrie Underwood concert
An American Idol hopeful took the stage during Carrie Underwood's concert on 25 October (12) to audition for the upcoming season. The season five champion was back in her hometown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Thursday for her Blown Away concert tour, and 18-year-old Danielle Castleman received the opportunity of a lifetime when she was called up on stage to audition for the very show that made Underwood a superstar. Idol's veteran judge Randy Jackson was on hand, and called the Sellersburg, Indiana native up to the stage. Through the show's new Nominate an Idol program, Castleman was chosen to audition for the show in front of a crowd of thousands. In a video from the concert, Jackson says, "This girl looks very all-American. Why don’t you sing a little bit of (Underwood's) All-American Girl for us. No pressure, just 10,000 Carrie fans, and Carrie right there." Castleman wowed the audience with her a cappella rendition and Underwood even exclaimed, "Work it!" to encourage the hopeful. Jackson agreed and said, "I think that you have what it takes to come sing again in front of me and the judges," before handing her a ticket to audition once again. Season 12 of American Idol kicks off on 16 January (13).
