"They have definitely talked to me about 'X Factor,'" Simpson tells WWD. "I think it would be a lot of fun. It's definitely my life. To be a mentor for up-and-coming artists is right up my alley. I would have loved to have (had) a mentor. I love watching people's dreams come true."
The 30-year-old songstress, who landed her first Top 10 hit at age 19, keeps busy these days with a highly successful fashion empire and an upcoming wedding to former NFL player Eric Johnson on the horizon.
If Simpson lands the gig, it won't be her first rodeo with reality television. She became a household name during her stint on MTV's "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" when she famously asked the question, "Is this chicken, or is this fish?" in reference to a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna. Simpson has also made a name for herself on the big screen in "The Dukes of Hazzard," "Employee of the Month" and "Blonde Ambition."
Rumors have also circulated that British "X Factor" judge and pop star Cheryl Cole may join the panel, with Cowell confirming that she's "in the mix."
Auditions for the show have already begun, and we imagine the remaining judges (and hosts) will be confirmed shortly.
