Is Paula set to leave 'American Idol'?

MSN Entertainment

Paula Abdul could be ready to say goodbye to "American Idol."

Abdul is reportedly set to "transition" out of involvement with the hit show to concentrate on other TV projects, OK! magazine reported.

"She knows that every season could be her last," a source told OK!. "Now she's got a new secret venture that she's really excited about."

"American Idol" recently announced that they would be adding a fourth judge, Kara DioGaurdi, for the new season.

Abdul had recently starred in "Hey Paula," a reality show that followed the singer in her daily life. The show aired on Bravo but was cancelled after one season due to poor ratings.

Abdul was in the news this week after fan and former "Idol" hopeful Paula Goodspeed, 30, killed herself and was found in a parked car by Abdul's house in Sherman Oaks, Calif.

Abdul has been a judge on the show with Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell since the show's beginning in 2002.

"American Idol" returns for its eighth season on Jan. 13 on FOX.
