Re: The Premature Elimination of "So You Think You Can Dance" contestant Bianca
Revels, tap-dancer extraordinaire

First, from the sulky teenager: "Totally sucks. No freaking way! Hell to the NO!!!"

Then, from the more composed and mature adult: "That was, by far, one of the most short-sighted judgments by a reality panel in quite some time. It is quite unbelievable that this happened."

Bianca Revels

An early favorite of mine, Bianca wore her heart on her sleeve. She tapped with grace, precision, and at such a level of difficulty that she made look sublimely easy, that I was sure she'd make it for at least a few more weeks. She was versatile. She adapted to other forms of dance, like in the group numbers and even in the "Revelation"-esque homage to Alvin Ailey where she praised her way across the stage. Her line, her technique, and the sheer joy of dance that she exuded from a little-spotlighted form of dance could have brought countless new talent to the tap-dance fold. In short, she was truly inspiring.

I know the decision to cut her wasn't unanimous, but did Noelle really stand out against other similar dancers, like Katherine or Mollee? Bianca had range, grace, an infectious, beaming smile, and a purity of movement that seemed invincible as well as unique.

Bye, Bianca. Good luck, and keep those tap shoes humming!

ABOUT THE SUPERFAN

Emily Russin

$$MOD$$Profile - msn-SuperfanEmily Russin is an unapologetic television addict whose formative years included writing rampant fan mail to the cast of "Zoom," as well as a particular fondness for early reality shows like "Candid Camera" and "Real People."
Emily comes from a family of television addicts, and counts among her inspirations her younger brother, who honed his chops by watching the tube for hours after the late-night bars of color came on. After a brief detox---during which her mother banished the set to the basement---Emily resumed her habit, and it continues unabated today. But she's committed to keeping it real, and in the semi-scripted world of reality TV she's found no reason to stop now.
When she's not tackling her TiVo, Emily writes about television for MSN. She's also a former managing editor of Seattle Weekly, has written about the arts and entertainment for Seattle Weekly and the Seattle Times, and has worked as a freelance editor. Emily has one daughter who, despite her mother's best efforts, loves the Disney Channel. And yes, for the record: Emily does, in fact, read a book once in a while. She grew up, lives, and blogs in Seattle with her husband, daughter and maltipoo.
