| Prime-Time Soaps: Then and Now |
A look at our favorite series through the years By Michaela Sinclair There's just something about watching a bunch of wealthy attractive characters overcome challenging situations involving love, betrayal, crime and mystery that television viewers love. The amount of both daytime and prime-time soap operas that have aired over the years is a testament to this. "Dallas," one of the most prolific series from the 1980s, has returned to television on TNT. A continuation of the original, the new series will have returning cast members Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman reprising their roles as the wealthy Ewings, Texans in the oil and cattle business. While we may soon ask, "Who killed J.R. Jr.?" the new "Dallas" reminds us of our other favorite prime-time soap operas from the past and present.
