"Top
Gear" (BBC America and History)
To paraphrase a common playground barb, girls rule and boys drool
-- over anything related to automobiles. Something about the primal
machinery of a sports car or a massive pickup seems to awake the Cro-Magnon
within millions of men. So ... moreit's no surprise that "Top Gear" -- which
consists of three hosts putting all manner of vehicles through daredevil
challenges and comically absurd resistance tests -- has persisted in some form
or other for decades, across multiple continents and on more than one network in
America alone. Or perhaps this does come as something of a revelation. But scan
hubby's recordings when History's take on "Top
Gear" airs (or BBC America's), and we guarantee they're cued up alongside
"White
Collar" and "The
Bachelor," respectively.
