Emily Maynard ("The Bachelorette," Season 8)

Oh, Emily Maynard, with her beauty-pageant good looks, exceptionally white teeth, a tragic backstory (involving the premature death of her daughter's father, a race car driver), Southern charm and the sort of infinitely malleable, blank-page personality onto which any suitors' hopes can be projected. She was once America's "Bachelor"-turned-"Bachelorette" TV sweetheart. Maynard originally walked into the South African sunset on Season 11 of "The Bachelor" with two-time star Brad Womack, but the pair, predictably, didn't last. So, obviously, she went on to star in "The Bachelorette" Season 8 and eventually gave People Water founder Jef Holm the final rose. After what seemed like a match made in TV heaven, rumors began swirling around her text message infidelity and her insatiable quest for the limelight. After multiple attempts via (staged) Instagram, Facebook and Twitpics trying to prove that their love was everlasting, the couple split. But not before a public Twitter war between the two, of course. Other former contestants from her season came out in defense of Jef with runner-up and makeout king Arie Luyendyk Jr. tweeting, "You're not the person everyone thinks you are." So, wait, we shouldn't believe everything we see on TV, then?
