Here comes Honey Boo Boo -- right to Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating People list.

Alana Thompson, the star of TLC's hot -- and hotly debated -- reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," has made Barbara Walters' annual compilation of the most riveting human beings of the year, a spokeswoman for ABC confirmed to TheWrap.

Bing: Which 'Voice' star slammed Honey Boo Boo?

The list also includes "Fifty Shades of Grey" author E L James, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas, "Argo" director and star Ben Affleck, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, British boy band One Direction and "Family Guy" boss Seth MacFarlane.

So why Honey Boo Boo instead of, say, David Petraeus, who has arguably had a big impact on the world, and experienced intriguing developments in his own life this year?

Walters told Us magazine that she finds the relationship between Alana and her mother, June Shannon, to be "touching."

"A lot of people will say, 'For heaven's sake, this is ridiculous, this is a child at 5 or 6 years old entering beauty contests,'" she said. "But the relationship between Alana and her mother -- that's the story, the two of them. It's very touching."

"Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012" airs Dec. 12 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC. The most-most fascinating person will be announced during the broadcast.
