Shows That Make You Hungry

If you are vulnerable to compulsive cooking, here are some to watch out for

Food Rule #1: Never visit the supermarket on an empty stomach.

Food Rule #2: Never watch a TV show about food when you might potentially get hungry. A little footage of frying victuals will get you rooting through your pantry in no time.

It's tough to avoid food shows when there are so many of them -- shows about how to cook, where to eat, what tastes best, who cooks best and even how they dine in New Guinea. The more stuffed crab you see, the more you yearn for a taste. And it doesn't help that the hosts look so satisfied chewing their delicious morsels, licking their fingers with deep joy.

OK, you think, maybe just a snack or some popcorn ... with butter and garlic powder, and a just a sprinkling of lemon pepper. And maybe a strip steak ... topped with blue-cheese walnut butter ... These are dangerous waters.

Every month, food shows abound -- new, old, and leftover. If you are vulnerable to compulsive cooking, here are some shows to watch out for. And if you love to give in to your inner epicurean, it might be time to get a new apron.
