Far worse than canned laughter, deciding that two of the exact same commercial playing back to back with only one different ad sandwiched in between is not piggybacking (which was once illegal), or even the seasons that saw shows featuring an orangutan as a Washington government agent, reality tv, scripted or not, is hands down the worst thing to ever happen to the entertainment industry. If reality tv had existed when shows like Cheers were just starting out the networks probably wouldn't have allowed the Cheers type shows, comedies or dramas, to develop an audience because the networks, including cable and satellite, sure don't allow anything but the reality garbage to survive unless they immediately show a spark. And even when the reality garbage is as insipid as Trump's Celebrity Apprentice or the CBS lesson in backstabbing and dishonesty that is Big Brother, those shows continue to get renewed while shows that had promise like Matthew Perry's Go On aren't given half a chance. Will I watch Siberia? No and as far as I'm concerned all these idiotic reality tv shows should be treated like a Stalin era enemy and banished to Siberia along with their creators and the executives who continue to okay their production or scheduling.

There are no reality shows. I show a script  for survivor several years ago. it had filming and catering schedules along with story lines. the producers on all the shows have influence on how the show plays out. remember its selling ad time  and makes money for thr networks

Have you ever noticed that people who watch "reality shows" need to find a life? A soap opera by any other name.

I believe it's not suppose to be a REAL reality show, but a show within a show. Where their acting like their on a reality show and people start getting killed off. It's obvious it's not a real reality show.

I wish they'd get rid of these shows entirely, especially Bachelor/ette.  Or put them on after 3AM and end before 5AM on a Sunday.  Some people are so gullible and fall for this bullcrap!

It's llike watching an episode of Jerry Springer or Maury.

They are right up there with these idiotic court shows.

Whatever happened to holsum tv where we could actually watch a movie like back in the 60s and 70s.

By Kenny Herzog
Special to MSN TV

Sometimes, watching reality series can be torture. Which, granted, is preferable to appearing on one for a massive prize, only to discover you may actually be tortured, disappear or die on ... more
