| Back With a 'Vengeance' |
Everything old is new as 'Vengeance' continues the 'Spartacus' saga By Kurt Geltz You can't keep a good man down. And if that good man turns out to be a certain Thracian sold into slavery and turned into a gladiator, you're going to have a hard time keeping that man from killing you. It's been a tough couple of years for the cast and crew of "Spartacus: Vengeance." The first season, "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," was a runaway hit back in 2010. Just as it was gaining viewers and acclaim, producers found out that star Andy Whitfield had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and decided to create a prequel series, "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena." The idea was to give Whitfield time to recover, but after a recurrence, he decided to step aside to allow the show to continue. Now with new actor Liam McIntyre stepping in for Whitfield, the cast members are ready to lace up the sandals, put on the loincloths and get back to the killing. So let's get you up to speed on everything you need to know when "Spartacus: Vengeance" premieres on Friday, Jan. 27, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.
