When the Sci-Fi Channel began in 1992, its goal was simple: Cater to fans of science fiction and horror by airing iconic shows like "Star Trek," "Doctor Who" and "Dark Shadows." But over the past two decades, the network has evolved (including a 2009 name change) into a cable powerhouse, airing a combination of scripted programs, reality shows, genre films and classic series. As it celebrates its 20th birthday, we look back at some of the original programming that got the network to this major milestone. Happy birthday, Syfy. Here's to 20 more.
