2007 New York Television Festival
The third annual NYTVF launches on Wednesday, September 5th and runs through Sunday, September 9th.
Here are a few things the 2007 Festival has to offer:
Independent Pilot Competition
The 2007 IPC features 28 original television pilots created by an
international group of writers, directors, and producers. The Official
Selections to the IPC consist of shows representing a wide array of TV genres
-- everything from sitcoms and dramas to reality competitions and
educational programming for the whole family. The next big hit of tomorrow just
might be debuting at the NYTVF today.

Premiere Week Screening Series
For the second straight year, the NYTVF is proud to team up with its network partners to present special preview screenings of some of the most anticipated shows of the new TV season. This year, the Festival is presenting exclusive premieres of shows from FOX, NBC, and ABC. Get more information about the screenings.
Network Premiere: Fox's "New Amsterdam"
Thursday, Sept.
6th at 8 p.m.
The NYTVF presents a red-carpet screening of
the FOX drama "New Amsterdam" with cast and creators on hand. The Festival is
proud to work with the Mayor's Office of Film Theatre and Broadcasting in
promoting television production in New York City in recognition of its "Made in
NY" initiative. The screening will be followed by a reception honoring the show
and its talent. Currently slated to debut in midseason, "New Amsterdam" is a New
York-based production centering on the brilliant and enigmatic homicide
detective John Amsterdam (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) who was granted
immortality after he saved the life of a Native American girl in 1642. The only
way for John Amsterdam to become mortal again is to find true love. Now, almost
400 years later, he uses unorthodox techniques and unique knowledge gained from
his vast life experience to solve crimes for the New York City police
department. The premiere episode is directed by visionary Lasse Hallström
("Chocolat," "The Cider House Rules," "The Hoax") and executive produced by
Hallström and Leslie Holleran ("Chocolat," "The Cider House Rules," "The Hoax").
From executive producers David Manson ("Saved," "Thief," "Nothing Sacred"),
Allan Loeb ("Things Lost in the Fire," "21"), and Steven Pearl ("Untraceable"),
this intriguing series invites viewers to explore the enduring mysteries of
life, death and true love. The series is produced by Regency Television
Productions, Inc.
Network Premiere: NBC's "Chuck"
Friday,
Sept. 8th at 9 p.m.
The NYTVF is proud to present a special
sneak-peek of "Chuck," a new action-comedy from NBC. From executive producer,
Josh Schwartz ("The O.C.") and executive producer-director McG ("Charlie's
Angels," "We Are Marshall") comes a one-hour, action-comedy series about Chuck
Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is
catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. When
Chuck opens an e-mail subliminally encoded with government secrets, he
unwittingly downloads an entire server of sensitive data into his brain. Now,
the fate of the world lies in the unlikely hands of a guy who works at a Buy
More Electronics store. Instead of fighting computer viruses, he must now
confront assassins and international terrorists.
Network
Premiere: ABC's "Pushing Daisies"
Saturday, Sept. 8th at
8 p.m.
The NYTVF presents an exclusive red-carpet event
featuring the new ABC drama "Pushing Daisies." As part of the event, the
Festival will present a premiere screening of the pilot episode, which will be
followed by a discussion with the creators and cast of the highly anticipated
series. The evening will be capped off with a reception honoring the show and
ABC television. "Pushing Daisies" is a love story about a young man with a very
special gift& the ability to return someone dead briefly back to life with
just a simple touch. Starring Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Ellen Greene,
Swoosie Kurtz and Kristin Chenoweth, the series was created by Bryan Fuller
("Heroes," "Wonderfalls," "Dead Like Me") and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld ("Men
In Black," "Get Shorty," "The Addams Family").
NYTVF Panel Discussion Series
Industry leaders discuss the hottest topics in television today.

Digital Frontiers in the Advertising
Marketplace
Thursday, Sept. 6th at 5 p.m.
This panel
will examine brand objectives in contemporary marketing and ad strategies that
utilize emerging and interactive platforms. Panelists will discuss the
advantages social networks and user-generated content offer advertisers as
compared to traditional online campaigns created by agencies. Looking forward,
the panel will project whether these online advantages will ultimately translate
into the television marketplace.
Network Building on the
Web
Friday, Sept. 7th at 5 p.m.
With the Web
increasingly viewed as a platform for delivering original video content to
viewers, programming executives are confronted with the question of how to
create new networks to present this content. This panel will address the
questions faced by the developers of new networks created for online audiences
and the varying approaches that have been successful. What elements of
traditional TV networks should be reflected, and what innovations must take
place as original content transitions from TV to the Web? Panelists will also
discuss whether successful online networks are destined to be co-opted by
traditional media companies or will challenge them as a viable competitor for
viewers.
Producing Your Pilot
Saturday, Sept. 8th at
11:30 a.m.
This panel will address the necessary steps for
turning a great script for an original TV series into a polished pilot. Experts
from specialized areas of television production will outline how a producer
should approach the various aspects of creating good television. The panel will
address setting up and directing shots and the resources that are available to
create an outstanding finished product through
post-production.
