Fans of the classic '90s comedy "Boy Meets World" are at once thrilled and apprehensive that Disney is rebooting the show, complete with original cast members Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel as Cory and Topanga. But Fishel emphasized on her Tumblr, "'GMW' is a new show. It isn't 'BMW' brought back to life but in current day. It will have familiar faces, familiar themes, and familiar messages. It will also have new faces, new themes, and new messages." Among the new faces is Rowan Blanchard, who will play Cory and Topanga's precocious daughter, Riley.
But still holding out, to the disappointment of fans, are Will Friedle, William Daniels and Rider Strong, who played Cory's best bud, Shawn Hunter. "I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story. At this point, I have no official involvement in 'Girl Meets World,'" Strong said in a statement. "There might be a chance to see some of the 'BMW' cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years. But 'GMW' will be, and I think it should be, its own show. It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters. It's the next generation."
Ahead of "Girl Meets World," here's a look at some classic TV shows ripe for a reunion.
