TV Families of the 1960s

By Lie Shia Ong

In the 1960s, television was still coming into its own. Many shows were transitioning from black and white to color.

Owning a TV was a little more affordable for the average American, and gathering around the set to watch shows as a family became more commonplace.

Like the TV families of the 1950s, the characters featured on the small screen in the 1960s were traditional families who ate dinner together every night. Divorces didn't happen, and even naughty children really weren't that bad.
