Toon It Up!
Some cartoons are back, and some aren't (and maybe that's for the best)

By Vinnie Penn

"Batman" never really went away. Tweaked. Revamped. Camped. Ditto for the shows about Spider-Man and Superman (no camp for the champ, however; Kal-El don't play that).

"Scooby Doo" has been revisited and reworked, both via live-action productions and the current "Scooby Doo, Mystery Inc." series, the latter of which airs its season finale this week. Even "Speed Racer" has seen an update and an upgrade -- at least as far as the new animated series is concerned, as opposed to the awful "Matrix"-esque feature film.

What's your all-time favorite cartoon? Tell us on Facebook.

But, ya see, therein lies the point more often than not: Some are best left remembered, best picked up on DVD, "All (insert number here) seasons!"

"Thundercats" is back, and the new spin may be win-win, which lends itself to me drumming up a wish list of cartoons I'd love to see make a triumphant return. But maybe just re-airing the original episodes. I dunno -- add a director's commentary if you have to.
