While Michael Bay tries to quell the masses of "Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle" fans who are enraged with his big-screen tinkering,
Nickelodeon will bring Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael and Michelangelo back in a
to the small screen in the fall.
Nickelodeon will unleash the latest animated iteration of the "TMNT" saga on
Sept. 29, the network announced Friday.
The CG-animated series, which will be voiced by Jason Biggs, original "TMNT" voice talent Rob
Paulsen, "Lord of the Rings" actor Sean Astin and "Teen Titans" star Greg Cipes, will
debut with "a one-hour special event" starting at 11 a.m.
The cast is filled out by "Parenthood" actress Mae Whitman, as April O'Neil,
a gutsy teenager who befriends the turtles after they save her life; "Royal
Pains"' Hoon Lee as the Turtles' sensei Master Splinter; and Kevin Michael
Richardson as Shredder, the head of the evil ninja army the Foot Clan.
The Nickelodeon series will mark the third time that the quartet of
anthropomorphic, martial arts-trained turtles, who made their initial splash as
comic-book characters, have taken animated form on the small screen. The first,
syndicated series ran from 1987 to 1996, with a second incarnation airing on Fox
and, later, the CW from 2003 to 2009.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is slated for 26 half-hour episodes.
