Reactions to the Golden Globe nominations
Contenders respond to the good news with surprise, anxiety and humor
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Reactions to the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards
nominations, announced Thursday in Beverly Hills, Calif.:
-- "Don't ask me what I'm gonna wear. I don't know. I'll throw up." -- Helen Hunt on getting dressed for the
ceremony, where she's nominated for supporting actress for "The Sessions."
-- "I'm celebrating by not doing a darn thing. That's my way of celebrating
right now. ... My whole day is really about Christmas and packing up stuff and
not much more than that, which believe me, with kids and grandkids and all of
that is plenty." -- Sally Field, on how she plans to
celebrate her supporting-actress nomination for "Lincoln."
-- "I can't wait to see Daniel Day-Lewis. I'm wondering if
he'll still be in character as Lincoln." -- Julia Louis-Dreyfus, nominated for
her lead role in "Veep," on attending the
Golden Globe Awards.
-- "It actually proves to be quite humorous sometimes because it will get to
a point where people have had one too many cocktails and go up for an acceptance
speech, and it ends up being very interesting." -- Hayden Panettiere, nominated for her
supporting role on TV's "Nashville," on why the
Golden Globes are her favorite awards show.
-- "It really wasn't on my radar. ... The film came out in March in a tiny,
tiny release, and I wasn't even sure anyone had seen it." -- Rachel Weisz, on her surprise at
being nominated for her leading role in "The Deep Blue Sea."
-- "We've both always felt that if we achieve anything, it's always for us.
She's been nominated in the past and won, and I've shared that with her, and I
share all my moments with her, too. The difference today is it's an actually
literal 'us.'" -- Keith Urban, co-writer of best
original song nominee "For You," on sharing the Globes nominations experience
with wife Nicole Kidman, who is up for two
awards.
-- "To actually go there, it's still something, for me, that kind of blows me
away... I like to go and watch all the movie stars. I get star struck and
they're all in the room and I see Clint Eastwood or something and I
still get a complete thrill out of it." -- Bradley Cooper, nominated for his
lead role in "Silver Linings Playbook."
-- "This is a good way to wake up." -- Max Greenfield, who was awakened
early Thursday with news that he was nominated for his supporting role on TV's
"New Girl."
-- "It's very exciting to find out that there was a woman at the center of
the greatest manhunt in history, and there are so many parallels for me between
Kathryn (Bigelow) and (my character) Maya because of that. These are two people
that are so insanely good at their jobs, but they never stop to complain about
the glass ceiling in their fields. They never take their attention away from
their jobs to do that." -- "Zero Dark Thirty" star Jessica Chastain, nominated for lead
actress.
-- "On the Tuesday I got the script, on the Wednesday I wrote the song, and
on the Thursday the head of the studio called and said, 'This is probably the
best song you've ever written.'" -- Jon Bon Jovi, nominated for his
original song "Not Running Anymore" from "Stand Up Guys."
-- "Quietly, but we cheered." -- "Life of Pi" composer Mychael Danna, who is fighting
the flu along with his wife but on the mend after learning about his first
Golden Globe nomination for the film's score.
-- "It cannot be stressful. It just has to be fun. There are many, many
things to stress for in this life -- not getting ready for a red carpet." -- Marion Cotillard, speaking by phone
from Paris, about preparing for the Golden Globes, where she's nominated for
lead actress in a drama for "Rust and Bone."
-- "I'm in a van on my way to Queens to do '30 Rock.' I heard the
news this morning right before yoga. I was just about to shut off my phone.
Unfortunately, I knew the nominations were being announced, so I was worried."
-- Julianne Moore, nominated for her
lead performance in the TV movie "Game Change."
-- "We'll have cheers and lots of high fives and maybe toss around some
haggis and maybe drink some Scotch." -- ''Brave" director Mark Andrews on celebrating the
film's animated feature nomination.
-- "It's probably the only way you could wake me up early and not make me
mad." -- Jennifer Lawrence, on receiving an
early-morning call from her agent letting her know she'd been nominated for "Silver Linings Playbook."
-- "To be honest, I'll celebrate tomorrow when my wife gets home, because
trying to do childcare by myself is very trying." -- Ben Affleck, on delaying celebrating
his best director and best picture nods for "Argo" until wife Jennifer Garner gets home.

The Golden Globe highlights REAL TALENT. Not just the popular names,,,,but REAL talent & RESPECT for a one of the 'arts' that is often just a 'popularity' & monies field.
I think it's bogus that msn decides what story can be commented on!! I've read several stories I wanted to comment on but can't because I have to go onto fb or twitter to follow the story?? I do not go onto those websites. I am frustrated that I have to open a new account to one of these sites just to comment on one of their stories! What a crock! I am starting to hate msn!!1
