Try this:
Stop watching TV (all of it, except for maybe news, weather, etc.) for about 90 days. I know this will be HARD for most of you and some of you will not be able to do it at all. Figure out ahead of time how you will spend that time and really go cold turkey.
After the 90 or so days, start watching TV again. In all likelihood you will find it to be one of the most mindless wastes of time imaginable! All the sitcoms are pretty much just like all the other sitcoms; all the crime dramas are pretty much just like all the other crime dramas, same with the medical dramas and (oh for crying out loud) the reality shows. You see one you've seen them all; they are all predictable and trite. It's a safe bet that you will find you enjoy whatever you replaced TV with much more.

The News.... The News  !!!  You gotta be kidding.  Their 'pre-scripted' information is just that, pre-scripted.  We no longer have reporters.  But we do have a  heck of a lot of good readers.  The 'reality' shows worth watching are when Anderson Cooper, or one of the actual reporters, go on location.

No . I will not like it . I don't automatically like something just because msn mind control tells me to . "reality " tv especially licks scripted ahole .

Can't wait for the new season!

Oh - a message for The Mokoda (below):

No, we would not consider 'stop watching TV'.  We love a good laugh from our favorite sitcoms and the weather checks and some Discovery Channel, some History Channel & some A & E, Food Channels & H&G.  We never watch the news.  Shows like Amazing Race allows us something to watch with our families - the kids love it too.  Good luck in the future without your TV.  Sounds like you'll be happy.

I gave up television back in 2001 and have not looked back.  As for the news I read the newspaper and listen to the radio.
