Special to MSN TV

Autumn means so many things to just about all Americans: nature's panoramic coloration, fantasy football drafts, the return of yet another long slog of a school year. The fall TV season celebrates renewed buzz around some of our favorite comedies and dramas. And with the ever-growing slate of prestige and popular programming across broadcast, digital and online channels, keeping track of all the scripted happenings can be hard work.

With that in mind, here are 18 choice returning series that we know you're breathlessly awaiting, or didn't even realize were eminently on the horizon, in addition to a reminder of where they last left us and what we can look forward to.
