the '90s. Mayim Bialik (pictured, at right),
better known as the title character from the TV series "Blossom," has
reluctantly signed up for the wardrobe renewal after claiming that people harass
her on the street for her frumpy look! Since her time on "Blossom," Bialik's
made hilarious appearances all over TV: as Larry David's lesbian neighbor in "Curb Your Enthusiasm"
and even playing herself on Kirstie Alley's short-lived series "Fat Actress." And
although we'd be more than slightly upset if hosts Stacy and Clinton attempted
to remove any floral dresses, Dr. Martens or bucket hats from Bialik's closet,
it's understandable that the now-33-year-old mother of two, who, post-"Blossom,"
attended UCLA and got her Ph.D., might need a wardrobe upgrade into the 21st
century.
We're rooting for Bialik, because Blossom's quirky look and fun style
epitomized the mid-'90s. She encouraged young girls to embrace their inner
flower child -- paired with a funky jean jacket and colorful Docs, of course.
But "What Not to Wear" has plenty of celebs that it could take on.
Bialik's not the only former teen star that could use a makeover, of course.
That's why we're using this opportunity to suggest the Blossom route to a few
other aging fashion icons. Some still live in the past, like Bialik. We'd
desperately like to see some other return to the time of their fame, perhaps to
get some style advice from their characters?
