Popular Searches 10Comments Aug 13, 2012 12:14PM While "Cheers" was a good show, I'd venture to argue that Frasier was an instance in which the spin-off surpassed the show from which it originated. Frasier was brilliantly written and performed and it's humor was derived from true character development and situations, never pandering to a low-brow audience with potty humor. With it's historical, literary, and musical references, it might just have been the "smartest" comedy to have ever aired on American network television. There's no doubt as to why it's consistently ranked among the best of all time. Even the greats like I Love Lucy and Carol Burnett only come close to matching its level of pure brilliance!
